indiana's guide to wellness rooted in nature
We partner with the big three to bring the well-being benefits of nature to as many Hoosiers as possible: nature, individuals, and teams.
We will guide you, no matter your experience level with the outdoors, so you have the opportunity to connect with nature and improve your physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
our values
adventure |
We encourage giving in to the pull of wanderlust, curious exploration, and stepping beyond comfort zones, both outdoors and in life. If you don't do the thing, you'll regret it. So do it scared.
reciprocity |
We guide in a way that prioritizes relationships of trust, empathy, and mutual understanding between people, communities, and the natural world. Developing a reciprocal relationship with the earth taps us into the collective on a deeper level than only viewing nature as a commodity.
well-being |
We understand that whole person well-being is the secret sauce to living a life we love and to living the best life we can. Mental, emotional, and physical well-being are all intertwined in wellness and wellness is rooted in nature.
nature focused |
We want to see this planet thriving and the only way to have that become reality is to get more people invested. And the best way to get people invested in something is to get them to fall head over heels obsessed with it. So that's what we do.
science based |
We don't turn up our noses at the facts, we make our decisions based on them. Staying up to date on the latest research is actually one of the ways we like to spend a random afternoon, believe it or not.

Hanna Foster
Forest Therapy Guide & Founder
She/Her
how it started
During a nearly decade long career in the world of corporate wellness, Hanna saw the need for more science based, and accessible, holistic wellness modalities in the basic corporate wellness program. When she began searching for these offerings for clients, and her personal use, she realized that there weren't many that were even all that accessible to the public. Frustrated with either the lack of scientific proof or the cost of most of the mass marketed modalities that she could find, Hanna expanded her search for modalities that were less common.
After reading "Your Guide to Forest Bathing" by Amos Clifford and going on her first guide led forest bathing walk in November of 2023, Hanna knew that forest therapy and forest bathing was the modality that she had been looking to share with her clients. She decided to become a guide herself when she found out that there were less than a handful of certified guides in the state of Indiana, and finished the course in November 2024.
Rooted WithIN came about to provide Hoosiers with a holistic and science-backed modality to improve their well-being, to help increase the availability of forest bathing in Indiana, and maybe most importantly, to raise awareness around the importance of building reciprocal relationships with nature.
caring for the planet
land acknowledgment
Rooted WithIN is passionate about reminding people that nature is not an endless commodity that we will be able to continue to tap without repercussions.
We're already beginning to feel those repercussions now, but there are still actions we can take to make a difference. We believe that by connecting more people with nature through relational forest therapy, they are more likely to become advocates of nature.
Our goal is to inspire others to perform local cleanups, support legislation that strives to protect the land and centers land back initiatives, to consider buying second hand and reusing items as much as possible and shopping from sustainable retailers when new is necessary.
We acknowledge the people of the Miami, Potawami, and Kickapoo tribes, the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work who are still here today.
We bow our heads in honor of those who were removed from their land and whose descendants have been denied formal tribal recognition or whose traditions have been erased to make way for the state where we now reside; the Piankeshaw, Wea, Kaskkaskia, Peoria, and Shawnee. The land now known as Indiana was once home to many Indigenous peoples as reflected by the name of our state and city - Indianapolis, Indiana or "Land of the Indians."
We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging, and recognize the strength, resilience and sovereignty of all Indigenous peoples.
For people who are tired of seeing nature treated as an endless commodity, we invite you to kick off your shoes, jump in the creek, and create a real relationship. Because we are not separate from nature - we are nature.
